Srinagar, July 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police headquarters has issued an updated traffic plan and advisory in light of ongoing road constraints, vehicle breakdowns and arrangements for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.According to a statement issued here, as per the July 18 plan, subject to fair weather and road conditions–SANJY convoy/LMVs (passenger and private vehicles) shall be allowed from both directions on NH-44 between Jammu and Srinagar. “HMVs shall operate on an alternate-day basis. TCU Jammu/Srinagar will coordinate with TCU Ramban prior to releasing HMV traffic,” the statement said. “Cut-off timings for LMVs/Private Vehicles–from Nagrota (Jammu) to Srinagar: 06:00 – 12:00 hrs, from Jakheni (Udhampur) to Srinagar: 07:00 – 13:00 hrs and from Qazigund to Jammu: 11:30 – 14:00 hrs.”The advisory said that no movement is permitted before or after these timings. “HMVs (Load Carriers)–allowed from Jakheni (Udhampur) to Srinagar post assessment by traffic control units. No HMV movement permitted after 19:00 hrs. Due to Amarnath Yatra, vehicles such as fuel tankers, LPG trucks, empty LPG cylinders, FCI empties, and others up to 10 tyres must return via Mughal Road, per Divcom Kashmir’s order,” the statement said. “Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road (NH-244)–Subject to favourable weather and NHIDCL clearance–LMVs and designated HPSVs allowed both ways. From PP Parana to Anantnag: 08:00 – 16:00 hrs, from PP Daksum to Kishtwar: 09:00 – 15:00 hrs, HMVs (except authorised HPSVs) are not permitted.”The advisory read that for SSG Road (Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari)–traffic to operate in a regulated manner–from Minamarg to Srinagar: 05:00 – 10:00 hrs, from Sonamarg to Kargil: 11:30 – 17:30 hrs while as no vehicle movement allowed outside cut-off hours.“Security forces’ convoys must not disrupt SANJY convoys. Mughal Road–subject to weather and GREF clearance–LMVs allowed both ways via Poonch. HMVs (up to 10 tyres) allowed only from Shopian to Poonch between 07:00 – 18:00 hrs.”As for the advisory, travellers are advised to verify road status before departure.
