Traffic advisory for July 17 : Limited movement, cut-off timings announced for Jammu-Sgr highway travel

Srinagar, July 16: The J&K Traffic Police Headquarters has issued a comprehensive travel advisory for July 17 for all commuters on major highways including Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, Mughal Road, SSG Road and NH-244 (Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag), in view of ongoing monsoon conditions and the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.As per a statement issued here, the traffic advisory for July 17 states that subject to fair weather, Amarnath Yatra convoys and LMVs (passenger/private cars) will be allowed both ways on the National Highway. “HMVs will be allowed on alternate days only, based on coordination between TCU Jammu/Srinagar and Ramban,” the statement said. “Cut-off Timings for LMVs–Nagrota (Jammu): 06:00 hrs – 12:00 hrs, Jakheni (Udhampur): 07:00 hrs – 13:00 hrs, Qazigund (towards Jammu): 11:30 hrs – 14:00 hrs. No vehicle movement will be allowed before or after the cut-off timings. Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs)–HMVs allowed from NAVYUG Tunnel (Qazigund side) towards Jammu, weather permitting. No HMV to be allowed after 19:00 hrs.”The advisory reads that all tankers (petrol/diesel/LPG), empty LPG trucks, empty FCI vehicles, and other up to 10-tyre vehicles must return via Mughal Road, as per Divisional Commissioner Kashmir’s order. “As far the other route advisories– Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag–LMVs and HPSVs are allowed both ways, subject to road clearance. From PP Parana to Anantnag: 08:00 hrs – 16:00 hrs, and from PP Daksum to Kishtwar: 09:00 hrs – 15:00 hrs. No other HMVs allowed as per SDM orders from Chhatroo and Kokernag.”The traffic will play on SSG Road (Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari)– Minamarg to Srinagar: 05:00 hrs – 10:00 hrs and Sonamarg to Kargil: 11:30 hrs – 17:30 hrs. “Traffic regulated strictly as per timing. No movement allowed after cut-off. Security Forces to ensure Yatra convoys remain undisturbed. Mughal Road (Poonch–Shopian)–passenger/rivate LMVs are allowed both ways. HMVs (up to 10 tyres only) allowed Shopian to Poonch. Allowed timings: 07:00 hrs to 18:00 hrs, from Behramgala and Herpora.”The advisory further states that all commuters are advised to confirm road status before travelling by contacting the following Traffic Control Units– Jammu: 0191-2459048, 0191-2740550, 9419147732, 103, Srinagar: 0194-2450022, 2485396, 18001807091, 103, Ramban: 9419993745, 1800-180-7043, Udhampur: 8491928625, Kishtwar (PCR): 9906154100 and Kargil (PCR): 9541902330, 9541902331
