Srinagar, May 11: Former Cabinet Minister and Apni Party’s Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir on Saturday said that National Conference President Farooq Abdullah is attempting to place his son at the helm of affairs in Jammu and Kashmir, while simultaneously wishing martyrdom for the children of common people.
He said it while addressing an event at the party headquarters in Srinagar. The event was aimed at welcoming new entrants from the Pattan area of north Kashmir, the party said in a statement issued here, adding that a prominent political and social activist from north Kashmir’s Pattan Hamid Rather joined the Apni Party along with his sporters and workers.
Mir in his address said, “Farooq Abdullah desires power for his son, but martyrdom for the children of common people. I strongly condemn this behaviour of Farooq Abdullah. We will no longer allow him to lead the youth down the path to jails and graveyards.”
Greeting the new entrants into the party fold, he said, “I wholeheartedly welcome you into Apni Party and I assure you that the entire party leadership will be behind you when you are out there to serve the people in your respective areas. Together, we will strive to ensure peace and prosperity in this land. Apni Party will provide you with ample opportunities and a dependable platform to contribute to the pursuit of peace, prosperity, and development in Jammu and Kashmir.”
Besides Hamid Rather, the new entrants included Irshad Ahmad Bhat, Abdul Aziz Bhat, Aashiq Hussain Bhat, and their associates.
The prominent party leaders who were present on the occasion included Media Advisor Farooq Andrabi, Provincial Vice President Muzaffar Rizvi, District President Anantnag Abdul Rahim Rather, District President Kupwara Raja Manzoor, State Secretary of the party’s Youth Wing and former Chairman of SMC Srinagar Tanveer Hussain Pathan, Block President Sherabad Mohammad Yusuf Khan, Syed Muzamil Rizvi, and others.
