Ganderbal, Oct 10: The picturesque tourist destination Sonamarg in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district was transformed into a winter wonderland after receiving its first snowfall of the season on Tuesday. The region, known for its breathtaking natural beauty, was clad in a pristine layer of snow, captivating both locals and tourists alike.
Tourists visiting Sonamarg awoke to the enchanting sight of fresh snowfall on Thursday morning, turning their visit into a memorable experience. Visitors from Mumbai expressed their delight, with one family saying, “It is like a dream come true for us. “We arrived in Sonamarg today and saw the charming mountains here covered with fresh snowfall. I had only seen snowfall on social media and TV. This is my first visit to any hill station, and I could see what I was praying and dreaming of.”
Another couple visiting for the first time said, “We had come here for the first time. The amount of fun here that we experienced during the summer is even more beautiful in the winter. We will try to come here every year during this season because the valley is not only a paradise in the summer but becomes even more heavenly in the winter.”
Tourists flocked to witness the snowfall, with adjacent places including Zojila, Baltal, Gagangeer, and Gund also experiencing fresh snowfall. Sonamarg, situated at an altitude of over 9,000 feet above sea level, offered tourists a breathtaking view of snow-covered landscapes. Some posed for pictures against the snowy backdrop, while others couldn’t resist playing in the snow. The entire area is now gripped in cold conditions, adding to the magical winter atmosphere that has descended upon Sonamarg.
