Tourism Directorate hosts Religious Trek -Mata Ki Parikrama on Day 6 of Navratra Festival

Reasi, Oct01:  On the day 6 of Navratra festival, Directorate of Tourism, Jammu organized the Religious Trek Mata Ki Parikrama, in collaboration with Association of Religious Tour Operators, Travel Agent Association of Katra and other prominent citizens of the holy township. 
The Parikrama of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and Trikuta Hills comprising more than 50 trekkers was flagged off by Abdul Jabbar, Deputy Director Tourism, Publicity and Jugal Kishore Sharma, Ex-MLA Reasi from Fountain Chowk Katra. The trekkers will cover the pilgrim tourist destinations of Agar Jitto, Nau Devi temple. Baba Dhansar, Kali Mata Temple Reasi, Bhim Garh Fort Reasi, Village Tote Devi Garh, Sukhal Gali-Jungle, Bhomag area and shall also cover Kanth Gali, Krimichi and   other prominent destinations before Trekking the Holy shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi.
The parikrama shall cover a total distance of 114 km- out of which 100 kms will be done by car and the remaining 14 kms will be traveled by foot.    
 On this occasion, the dignitaries briefed that the event shall explore/revive the pilgrimage route covering the entire pilgrimage tourist destinations en-route and shall help in booming Tourism in the Reasi district.
Deputy Director Tourism, Publicity, Jammu Abdul Jabbar  also briefed the Travel Agents and other local prominent citizens of Katra about the Home stay scheme started by the Tourism Department to promote rural Tourism in the UT of J&K. “It will help in creating employment venues in and around district Reasi” he added.
The Deputy Director Tourism, Publicity Jammu also participated in the Prabhat Pheri which is organised daily during the Navratras. A large number of devotees from Katra and outside joined the Prabhat Pheri. The devotees were singing bhajans & dancing on the tunes of drums enroute the Prabhat Pheri. The local people in their areas welcomed & greeted the participants of the procession.
On this occasion, Ajay Kumar Gupta President Association of Religious Tour Operators, Ashwani Kumar, Raj Kumar Dubey President and General Secretary Travel Agent Association of Katra, Saradri Lal Dubey, Raj Kumar Padha, President Prabht Pheri Committee, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Vishal Sajotra and other prominent citizen of Katra.
