Srinagar, May 05: The Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department has proposed the setting up of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRIs) to the level of all New Government Medical Colleges to improve the diagnostics facilities across hospitals.
Secretary, Health & Medical Education J&K, Bhupinder Kumar said adequate provisions are being made in the annual plan to strengthen diagnostics facilities and other facilities.
“To make diagnostics facilities assessable all the necessary steps are being taken. Upgradation of diagnostic facilities in hospitals is a continuous process. In order to further add to the capacities adequate provisions are being made in the annual plan and every effort is made to strengthen all the other facilities in hospitals,” he said
“In order to further reduce the load on the tertiary care hospitals, we have proposed the setting up of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to the level of all New Government Medical Colleges to make these services affordable and accessible,” he said.
The Secretary also said that radio diagnosis and pathology labs are also being strengthened to make the services accessible to the people.
He said the department has formulated a roadmap and is working on it to achieve all the desired goals contained in its vision and mission in line with Sustainable Development Goals.
“The UT has robust public health infrastructure with more than 4100 health facilities at various levels which are being regularly strengthened by way of providing machinery equipment and manpower,” he said.
