Ganderbal, June 24: Stringent security measures have been put in place for the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra commencing on June 29, while authorities have ensured comprehensive arrangements to facilitate a smooth pilgrimage for the thousands of devotees expected to participate in the yatra.
In addition to security, extensive efforts have been made to cater to the needs of the pilgrims. Free langars (community kitchens) have started operations in Baltal and Domail, providing food and refreshments to ensure that pilgrims do not face any difficulties during their journey.
Thousands of tents have also been erected to accommodate the heavy influx of Kashmiri Muslims, who traditionally gather in large numbers to assist and support the yatra.
For decades, the local Muslim community of Ganderbal district has played a pivotal role in supporting the Hindu pilgrims. This longstanding tradition of communal harmony sees Muslims from various areas enthusiastically welcoming the guests and ensuring their well-being until the conclusion of the yatra.
“These arrangements reflect the collaborative spirit and the commitment of the local population to uphold the age-old tradition of hospitality and support for the Shri Amarnath Yatra,” said a local.
