Baramulla, Sep 27: In a remarkable achievement, three students from Government Degree College for Women Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla have been named NEP SAARTHI Ambassadors by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in New Delhi.
An official from GDC Women Sopore said the accomplishment underscores the college’s steadfast commitment to fostering educational excellence.
The three outstanding students – Mehvish Fayaz Wani, Haya Azad and Nuzhat Afrooz – all from the Academic Batch of 2022 were selected for this prestigious role.
Their selection was made possible under the guidance of Principal Prof Bashir Ahmad Parray and the close supervision of Prof Zubair Sayeed Masoodi, Assistant Professor of Computer Applications and NEP Coordinator at the college.
The Secretary of the University Grants Commission conveyed this nomination to the college’s principal in a letter dated September 21, 2023.
The NEP SAARTHI initiative, introduced by the UGC, is a forward-looking program designed to involve students in reshaping higher education in India by implementing the transformative provisions of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Principal Prof Bashir Ahmad Paray and Coordinator NEP Prof Zubair Masoodi expressed their delight, saying, “We are immensely proud of our students for their selection as NEP SAARTHI Ambassadors. Their unwavering commitment to academic excellence, coupled with their outstanding leadership qualities, has earned them this prestigious recognition.”
They expressed confidence that these students will play a pivotal role in advocating academic reforms and contributing to the successful implementation of NEP 2020.
Professor Masoodi told Rising Kashmir that out of a nationwide pool of 484 nominations from universities, colleges, and institutions, Government Degree College for Women Sopore proudly celebrates the selection of these three exceptional students as NEP-SAARTHI Ambassadors.
