Kulgam, Jul 19: Three residential houses were damaged in a fire incident in Razloo village of Kund, located in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday.
An official from fire and emergency service said that the fire affected the houses where several families were residing.
Soon after receiving the information, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services promptly deployed their personnel and machinery to douse the flames. The fire was successfully brought under control.
The local community expressed their gratitude to the fire and emergency services and the volunteers who helped extinguish the flames, thereby minimizing the damage.
Official said that the estimate of the losses incurred by the fire as per preliminary assessment is approximately 20 lakhs while the property worth 50 lakhs was saved.
The affected houses belonged to Gh Mohd, son of Ab Gaffar Shan; Gulzar Ah, son of Gh Mohd Shan; Gh Ahmad, son of Gaffar Shan; Ashiq Hussain, son of Gh Ahmad Shan; and Ab Rehman, son of Gh Hassan Wani.
Rakib Ahmad, the Tehsildar Devsar, visited the site and met with the affected families.
He assured them of support from the administration according to the norms.
He also said that the administration has provided immediate relief to the fire victims and that their cases will be processed under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) norms.
