The authorities on Saturday captured three more punt guns in Saderkoot Payeen and Garoora villages of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
An official told Rising Kashmir that three punt guns were secured however poachers fled from the spot leaving these three behind.
He said that the punt guns were seized by anti-poaching control room of the Forest Protection Force and the Wular Conservation and Management Authority in the vicinity of the banks of Wular Lake in Saderkoot Payeen and Garoora areas.
He said that a complaint has been lodged under relevant sections of law and further inquiry was launched.
Notably, the utilization of punt guns in the vicinity of Wular Lake is forbidden by the authorities, but residents assert despite prohibition hunters use locally manufactured firearms to slaughter wetland birds with impunity.
