Three killed after an alleged mentally unsound man attacks family, locals in Aishmuqam

In a very rare and tragic incident, an allegedly mentally unsound person attacked many locals in the Ashmuqam area of Anantnag district leaving three dead and six others injured on Friday morning.

An official said, three locals lost their lives in a sad incident after a mentally unsound person attacked them.

“Sad news, a mentally unstable person attacked and killed three people here in the Ashmuqam area. In this tragic incident six others have received injuries,” says Syed Naseer, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ashmuqam.

The official said, the attacker has been identified as Javaid Ahmad from Diyaroo Aishmuqam.

Mohd Iqbal, Medical Superintendent of GMC Anantnag said, among the injured one was brought dead and three are admitted here at GMC Anantnag.

“The injured that were brought to the hospital here among them one was brought dead which was identified as Mohd Amin Shah son of Mohd Ramzan Shah resident of Ashmuqam who died of head injury,” he said.

He said, Mohd Sultan Saka son of Ghulam Mohd Saka, a resident of Ashmuqam was referred from GMC and he too is having a head injury.

The other two who lost their lives in the incident are, the mother of the attacker, Hafeeza Begum of Dyaroo Ashmuqam, and another local Ghulam Nabi Khadim, SDM said.

“The attacker was arrested immediately,” he said.
