Three drug peddlers held in South Kashmir’s Kulgam

Continuing its intensified efforts against drug menace, Police in a major success has arrested three drug peddlers in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

 

A Police Spokesperson said that on 25/02/2023 during patrolling, Police Party headed by IC PP Frisal intercepted a vehicle (I20) bearing registration number HR26CK-9436 which was driven by Aliyas Ahmad Bhat S/O Mohd Akbar Bhat R/O Arwani, Bijenhara at Gundchahal crossing, Shirpora. During thorough checking of the said vehicle, the party present were able to recover 20KG of Grinded Cannabis and 800 gram of Charas like contraband substances.

 

“Similarly, in an another incident; During Naka checking at Khudwani, police party of police station Qaimoh led by SHO Qaimoh intercepted one vehicle (Tavera Sumo) bearing registration number PB08BG-1734 in which two persons namely; Majinder Singh S/O Balbir Singh R/O B.B.O Litra Jalandar, Punjab and Javid Ahmad Hajam S/O Ghulam Mohd Hajam R/O Redwani were on board. During the checking, police party present was able to recover 6.5KG of Grinded Cannabis and 180 of Charas like contraband substances”, he said.

 

All the three drug peddlers were arrested and the vehicles used in commission of crime were seized. Regarding the incidents, Case FIR No. 10/2023 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act and FIR No. 10/2023 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Yaripora and Qaimoh respectively and further investigation into the matter is under process.
