Three drug peddlers held in Baramulla: Police

`Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police on Wednesday have arrested 3 drug peddlers in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district and recovered contraband substances from their possession.      

A Spokesperson said that a police party of Police Station Baramulla headed by SHO PS Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Jetty road Khawajabagh, intercepted one person. During his search, 25 grams of Brown Sugar like contraband substances was recovered from his possession. He was identified as Aqib Ahmad Bhat @ Ponty son of Abdul Salam Bhat resident of Sherwani Colony Khawajabagh.He has been arrested and shifted to PS Baramulla were he remained in custody.

Similarly, a Police Party of Police Station Kunzer headed by SHO Police Station Kunzer at a checkpoint established at Mulgam Kunzer intercepted one person. During search 1.5 Kgs of contraband Cannabis Powder like substances was recovered from his possession.He was identified as Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh son of Abdul Samad Sheikh resident of Mulgam Kunzer. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Kunzer were he remained in custody.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at police Station Baramulla & Kunzer and investigations have been initiated.

Meanwhile, during investigation of case FIR which was earlier registered in which drug peddler namely Hilal Ahmad Wani son of Gh Nabi Wani resident of Barzulla was arrested and 510 grams of contraband Charas & 11 syrups of Codiene Phosphate was recovered from him, it came to surface that one drug peddler namely Shabir Ahmad Sofi @ JK son of Ab Khaliq resident of Mazhoma Magam has supplied the contraband & psychotropic substances to him. Acting upon this a trap was laid to arrest him and at checkpost established at Chichiloora the drug peddler was arrested and 55 grams of contraband Charas like substances was recovered from his possession. He was shifted to Police Station Kunzer were he remained in custody.
