Srinagar, Mar 07: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Tuesday said those found involved in recruitment scams will be given exemplary punishment as per the law of the land so that such things are not repeated in future.
Addressing a gathering in Jammu, the LG Sinha said from the past three years, 30,000 youth have been provided government jobs.
“No job was given on anyone’s recommendation only meritorious candidates were selected,” he said.
“In some recruitment processes, discrepancies have been found and CBI inquiry was conducted for the same.Those found involved will be given exemplary punishment as per the law of the Indian Constitution so that such things are not repeated in future,” he said.
The LG said the J&K administration has filled 30,000 govt posts and all have been done with transparency and no-one was on the basis of recommendations.
“Few months back when JKSSB results were declared, a daughter of a vegetable seller came to Raj Bhawan.
“My security personnel told me that she wants to meet me. I invited her. She told me that she had never thought of getting a government job. Now people only meritorious candidates are selected for government jobs,” he said.
LG Sinha said the J&K administration is planning to advertise 20,000 jobs within the next two months.
“Recently we have created record by declaring results of J&KPSC within three hours after examinations. This is the first time in country that results were declared so fast,” he said.
The Lt. Guv also said from the past 20 years the promotions of government officers were withheld in many departments across Jammu and Kashmir.
“The promotions were not done on appropriate time for their vested interests as they (previous regimes) were promoting only blue eyed candidates,” he said.
LG Manoj Sinha said even many promotions of government employees were not done since 2001 and now we have been successful in doing that.
“We want to saturate self employment in J&K. Youth were identified from every panchayat and town of the UT, and in a single day, 75000 youth were provided more than Rs 939 cr financial assistance. More than 6 lakh women have been connected with NRLM,” he said.
LG said that the vision of the UT Government for accelerating growth in various sectors. We are working with an integrated approach for development of all sectors.
