“This winter will be a grand success”: J&K Secretary Tourism

Secretary Tourism J&K Syed Abid Rashid Shah Thursday said that this years winter will be a “grand success”. He was talking to reporters at SP Museum here in Srinagar.

“This year’s winter will be a grand success. Destinations like Gulmarg and Pahalgam have alrady booked in advance as Christmas and New Year celebrations are ahead,” Secretary Tourism said.

He said the huge footfall of tourists in J&K this winter is an indication of prosperous J&K. “Domestic and international tourists are arriving J&K this winter. Hotels at many places are already booked in advance. This indicates J&Ks prosperous future,” he said.

He said that government has taken up several offbeat destination this year to divert footfall of tourists there and provide employment to unemployed youth there. 

“We have planned to move beyond Gulmarg and Pahalgam, so efforts are on in this regard. Many offbeat places will be added in tourism map this winter after keeping the good arrival of tourists into consideration,” he added.(KNS)
