Srinagar, May 30: Several political leaders have strongly condemned the killing of a civilian, Deepu of Udhampur, by terrorists in south Kashmir’s Anantnag on Monday evening. The deceased was working at a circus mela.
Terrorism a curse against humanity: Azad
Chairman Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) Ghulam Nabi Azad in a statement said that terrorism is a menace that needs to be fought by all collectively.
Azad tweeted, “Strongly condemn the heinous act of killing Deepu of Udhampur by terrorists in Anantnag. Terrorism is a menace that needs to be fought by us collectively. It is a curse against humanity!”
He expressed solidarity with the victim’s family and urged the authorities to bring the culprits to justice.
Killers will not be spared: Chugh
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary and in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir Tarun Chugh while condemning the killing said it was the “desperation of terrorists” as they could not digest the developments in Jammu and Kashmir.
Those involved in this heinous crime should be brought to justice at the earliest, Chugh said in a statement. He expressed his heartfelt condolences and sympathies with the bereaved family.
Another incident of savagery: Sajad Lone
J&K Peoples Conference President Sajad Gani Lone said he is “deeply disturbed and saddened” by the tragic incident of Deepu, and expressed condolences to his family and loved ones.
“The killing of Deepu in Anantnag is yet another incident of savagery. In wonderment how does the killing of a civilian help anybody,” he said in a statement.
Lone said that Deepu had come to Anantnag, leaving his home in Udhampur, with the hope of finding livelihood opportunities. “Deepu was here in search of livelihood for himself and his family. He was here to provide for his loved ones, much like countless others who venture into different parts of the world,” he added.
While offering condolences to the bereaved family, Lone said that the loss of a loved one is an immense tragedy, and no words can adequately express the pain and anguish experienced by his family. “My heartfelt condolences go out to Deepu’s family and loved ones. I stand in solidarity with them during this difficult time,” he said.
