Srinagar, Feb 03: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) Friday carried out raids at multiple locations in connection with a terror-funding case in Srinagar, officials said.
A senior police official told Rising Kashmir that the SIA sleuths along with CRPF personnel conducted raids in Parimpora, Jawahar Nagar, Natipora, Chanapora, Bulbul Bagh and Qamarwari areas of Srinagar.
“During the searches, incriminating material, mobile phones, electronic gadgets, and other articles having bearing on the investigation have been recovered and seized. The analysis of the data would follow and leads that would emerge would become the basis for further investigation, he said.
The officials said that the investigation is aimed at dismantling the terror ecosystem in the UT by not only identifying over-ground workers (OGWs) supporting and abetting terrorism but by ensuring legal action as envisaged by the law of the land.
As per SIA, the case pertains to handlers of terrorist, secessionist organization (s) operating from across the border hatching a criminal conspiracy with members of a proscribed terrorist organization(s) operating in UT of J&K, having created new modules of OGW(s) for aiding and providing a variety of logistic support to terrorist organizations.
“The intention of (terrorist organizations) is to further spread terrorist and unlawful activities in UT of J&K. These modules of OGW(s) under a well-knit criminal conspiracy have been formed not only for providing a variety of support to terrorist organizations,” the spokesman said.
He said these handlers also have to fight a proxy war in UT of J&K with a larger objective of secession of UT of J&K from the Union of India by waging war against the Government of India.
The police official said the modules are in continuous touch with members of a terrorist organization(s) across the border, amongst other modes of communication, it is learned that encrypted internet messaging platforms, besides other software applications are being used.
In 2022, SIA was established last year to investigate terror related cases in J&K and the agency along with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) are probing dozens of high profile cases related to terror organisations, individuals and banned outfits.
