In a major success against the perpetrators of terrorism in Kashmir, Indian Army along with Kupwara Police busted a deep-rooted Terror Funding and Recruitment module running in North Kashmir on Thursday.
A defence spokesperson said, “After receiving multiple inputs regarding an individual, hailing from Cheerkote area of Kupwara district, a joint operation was launched by the Army and Kupwara police to nab the individual from general area Nutnussa and Lolab localities of Kupwara. After thorough interrogation, the individual revealed that, he along with five others from different parts of North Kashmir were running a terror funding racket under the garb of a fake NGO, which claimed to provide monetary assistance to poor and needy families.”
“As per the J&K Police, these individuals were actively involved in coordinating funding for terror activities and aiding recruitment by organizing meetings in different villages, where they would try and lure young people into Anti-National activities”, he said.
As per the JKP, the group was also actively collecting explosive materials which is known to be used in IEDs. A huge quantity of arms, ammunition, raw material to prepare IED and incriminating materials has also been recovered. All the individuals have been arrested and are in Police custody in Police Station Kupwara for further investigations.
