Rajouri, Sep 05: Teachers’ Day, the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, was celebrated with pomp and show at J&K Police Public School Rajouri. The day is celebrated every year to honour and appreciate the significant and pivotal role of teachers in shaping the lives of students.
Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a teacher and the 2nd president of India, had a deep passion for education and believed in the pivotal role of teachers in shaping society. This day has been celebrated since 1962 as a mark of respect to all of the teaching community.
“J&K Police Public School Rajouri is working under the aegis of J&K PWWA & PPS association to impart quality education to the wards of police martyrs, serving police personnel along with the students from the weaker section of the society at nominal charges of school fee, providing full transport and other facilities. The total enrolment of J&K PPS Rajouri is 426 up to 8th standard, having a student-teacher ratio of 1:15,” the school said in a press release.
The school is functioning in adequate accommodation with well-ventilated classrooms with a big playground on DPL premises.
On the occasion, a colourful function was held at J&K PPS Rajouri, in which Dr Mohd Haseeb Mughal-IPS DIG R-P Range (Administrative Officer J&K PPS Rajouri) was the chief guest and was received by the Addl. SP Rajouri Vivek Sheikhar, accompanied by Dy.SP DAR Parupkar Singh, Parvez Alam Dy.SP Staff Officer RPHQ Rajouri, Nitu Bhasin Principal and students with garland and songs.
At the outset of the event, the chief guest lighted a lamp. On the occasion, the students praised the hard work and role of teachers, and small skits and cultural items were also presented. A newly renovated staffroom in the school premises was also inaugurated by the DIG R-P Range on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, DIG RP Range threw light on the life of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and exhorted the need for punctuality and discipline among the students. He advised them to choose their career wisely in the field of (STEM) Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Keeping in view the future requirements of society and the job industry, he laid emphasis upon the need for the teachers to work with a keen interest in imparting quality education to the students.
Suitable totek Gifts and Commendation Certificates were distributed among the staff members. Refreshment was also served to the participants.
Principal Ms Renuka Bhasin and staff thanked the DIG RP Range for sparing precious time and also for providing such a modern and well-furnished facility to the staff, which was direly required in the school. She also thanked the chief guest and other Police officers present for supervision and guidance in running the school smoothly.
