Srinagar, Sept 05: The Teachers Day was celebrated on Monday in all the educational institutions in the Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
As per the officials of the School Education Department and Higher Education Department Teacher’s Day was celebrated in all schools, colleges and universities of the UT.
On this day, Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha awarded ten teachers of the School Education for their exemplary contribution towards the education here in SKICC.
The teachers who were awarded include Jawaz Iqbal Wani, a teacher of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Bhartund Batote of Ramban district, Harpreet Singh,teacher, GHS S Logate, Kathua, HarnamSingh, teacher MS Padder ,Khawas, Rajouri, Neeraj Sharma, teacher UPS Pahalshore , Gunna Doda, Chander Prakash, teacher GHSS Dekri ,Inderwal Kishtwar, Abha Chohan, teacher GHSS Sonwar Srinagar, Shafqat Hamid Kakroo Teacher BHSS Hazratbal, Srinagar, Ravinder Kour Headmaster GHS Shrakwarac Wagoora, Baramulla, Sajad Akbar, teacher HSS Bomai Dangerpora, Baramulla and Ishfaq Ahmed Khanday, teacher MS Malikpora Matihindoo, Anantnag.
On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, Sinha greeted the teaching fraternity here in SKICC.
He said, “Teacher’s role for the students is not only to educate them in class but to prepare them for all the moral and career challenges they will face in the future,” Sinha said.
Sinha on the occasion advised the educators to offer knowledge to their students to best of their capacity.
Meanwhile, a national-level seminar marking the celebration of Teachers’ Day was held at the University of Kashmir.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Nilofer Khan chaired the seminar titled ‘Teachers: Reorienting the Societal Consciousness towards Human Values’.
The event was organised by the Department of Education.
Teacher’s day is celebrated every year on the birth anniversary of India’s second President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was a proficient teacher and devoted his whole life for this cause.
