In an effort to eradicate tuberculosis from the district, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Baramulla, Aijaz Abdullah Saraf today presided over a District TB forum meeting in the Conference hall of DC office, here to review implementation of National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP).
At the outset, the meeting was provided a comprehensive overview of the steps being taken for elimination of TB in the district. The ADDC was informed that the program is aimed to decrease mortality and morbidity due to TB and cut transmission of infection.
Underlining the urgency of expanding TB testing and screening methodologies, the ADDC emphasized the pivotal role of community awareness by disseminating vital information regarding TB, accessible healthcare channels, and debunking prevailing misconceptions.
He further urged the officers to rope in Education, ICDS, Social Welfare and other concerned departments to run awareness campaigns against the disease across the district.
The ADDC reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to achieving the ambitious goal of TB elimination by the year 2025.
