Jammu, Fe 13: The Tawi River Front in Jammu, being developed in lines with Sabarmati River Front of Gujrat, is all set to boost tourism in Jammu besides adding beauty to the City of Temples and ensuring conservation of the Suryaputri-Tawi River.

The Tawi Riverfront project is an audacious undertaking spanning 7 kilometres in two phases, with a budget surpassing Rs 530 crores.

Phase I, from the fourth bridge to the main Tawi bridge, and Phase II, encompassing the stretch from the main Tawi bridge to Gujjar Nagar bridge, seek to seamlessly integrate the city’s urban fabric with a revitalized waterfront.

Concurrently, the Jammu Artificial Lake project on Tawi River, adjacent to Tawi River Front, with a budget of Rs 180 crores, is on the verge of conclusion after facing delays over the past 13 years.

This project aspires to craft a sprawling artificial water body, spanning approximately 1.5 kms in length and 600 meters in width.

Beyond enhancing the city’s aesthetics, the lake aims to attract the tourists and devotees, solidifying Jammu’s status as a sought-after destination.

These projects exemplify responsible urban planning, environmental consciousness, and the harmonious coexistence of heritage and innovation.

It is imperative to recognise the significance of these developments in shaping Jammu’s identity.

The Tawi River front’s impending completion and the upcoming inauguration of the Artificial Lake signify a renaissance for Jammu.

These developments promise an enriched tourism landscape, a renewed sense of pride among residents, and economic opportunities for the city’s populace.

Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, had laid the foundation stone for the riverside development project, aiming to ensure sustainable urban infrastructure, unique business opportunities, and an improved quality of life.

The completion of these ventures holds the promise of a vibrant future for Jammu – one that embraces sustainable practices, economic growth, and an enhanced quality of life for its residents.

As Jammu inches closer to celebrating the realization of these projects, it marks not just a physical transformation of the landscape but a testament to the city’s unwavering spirit and collective vision for a brighter future.

The work on the first phase of this flagship project under Jammu Smart City i.e Tawi River Front is expected to be completed by the month of January, 2025.

Tawi River Front project will expand the tourism potential of Jammu and many other projects and initiatives like Jambu Zoo, Light & Sound Show, Temple of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams etc have already been completed to further increase the tourism potential of Jammu Division, the LG Sinha had said.

Pertinently, around 5000-6000 people are visiting Suchetgarh and Tirumala Tirupati Temple every day and the number increases during weekends.

Efforts are being made to create more such destinations in Jammu city and Jammu region with the assistance of the Government of India, the LG had said.
