Srinagar, Nov 11: Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader and MLA Kulgam, Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami on Monday urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to reconsider the recently imposed age limit of 35 years for Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) aspirants. He urged the government to restore the pre-abrogation age limit of 37 years for open merit candidates.
The demand for reinstating the 37-year age limit has been a long-standing issue for JKAS aspirants. A recent government order reduced the upper age limit to 35 years, causing concerns among many candidates who believe this decision is unfair and detrimental to their career prospects.
“The new age restriction disproportionately affects those who have been preparing for the JKAS exams for years and now find themselves ineligible,” the CPI (M) leader said.
