T-10 Cricket Tourney: Dept of Education wins in women’s category, Dept of physical Edu lifts men’s title

Ganderbal, Nov 14: Central University of Kashmir (CUK) on Tuesday conducted the finals of the T-10 Inter-Departmental Cricket Tournament (Men/Women) at Tullamulla campus.
In the final of the Women’s T-10 played between the Department of Science and the Department of Education, the former won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, the Department of Science scored 60 runs. While chasing the required target, the Department of Education completed the target in the sixth over and won the match by four wickets. Waqar Un Nisa was declared player of the match as she scored 22 runs and took one crucial wicket. Benish from the Department of Science was declared player of the tournament for her brilliant run throughout the tournament. The top run-getters and wicket-takers were Benish from the Department of Science and Saika from the Department of Education.
In the Men’s T-10 played between the Department of IT and Physical Education, the former won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, the Department of IT scored 79 runs. While chasing the required target, the Department of Physical Education completed the target in the eighth over and won the match by seven wickets. Rayees Ahmed of the Department of Physical Education was declared player of the match as he took three crucial wickets. Adil Majeed Baba from the Department of Physical Education was declared player of the tournament for his brilliant all-round performance throughout the tournament. The top run-getter and top wicket-taker were Adil Majeed from the Department of Physical Edu and Ulfat from the Department of IT, respectively. The best catch of the tournament was given to Dr. Mohammad Muzamil Shah for his catch in the quarterfinal against the Department of Urdu.
The closing ceremony was graced by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath, Dean Academics Affairs, Prof. Shahid Rasool, Dean and Head School of Education Prof. Syed Zahoor Geelani, Head Department of Convergent Journalism Dr. Arif Nazir, Coordinator Department of IT Dr. Afaq, Deputy Director DSW Dr. Asif Khan and Coordinator Department of Physical Education Dr. Mohammad Muzamil Shah.
The Department of Physical Education organized the tournament in collaboration with the Department of the Students Welfare.
