Jammu, Dec 08: The Swachh Bharat BIG Cricket League 2024, organized by 92.7 BIG FM in collaboration with the Department of Rural Sanitation, J&K, continued its electrifying journey on Day 5 at Jammu Sports Club Kot Tawi. With exceptional performances on display, the day underscored the league’s motto of “Let’s Swing for Swachhta,” combining cricketing passion with the spirit of cleanliness and sustainability.
The first match of the day witnessed a high-octane clash between Tawi Challengers and Chief Secretary XI. Winning the toss, Chief Secretary XI chose to bat first and delivered a batting masterclass, amassing a staggering total of 234 runs in their 20 overs. Danish was the standout performer, scoring a magnificent century with 107 runs off just 55 balls. His brilliant innings, punctuated by boundaries and sixes, earned him the title of Man of the Match. Despite a valiant effort from Tawi Challengers, they fell short by 49 runs, handing Chief Secretary XI a convincing victory.
The second match featured a face-off between Shivya Ayurveda and Road Safety XI. Shivya Ayurveda, having won the toss, elected to bat first. Led by Vijay Dogra’s all-round brilliance, they set a competitive target of 158 runs in their 20 overs. Dogra’s crucial knock of 48 runs provided the backbone of their innings. With the ball, he turned the tide further by taking 3 key wickets, ensuring his contribution was felt in all departments.
Chasing 158, Road Safety XI started strong with Farooq Ahmed smashing 48 runs off 28 balls. However, their momentum faltered, and the team was bundled out for 138 in 17.1 overs, giving Shivya Ayurveda a 20-run victory. Dogra’s exceptional performance earned him the well-deserved Man of the Match title.
The tournament is a confluence of cricket and social responsibility, supported by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Directorate of Rural Sanitation-J&K, as the title sponsor. The event is presented by the Jal Shakti Department and powered by SMVD Narayana Super Speciality Hospital, with associate partners Shree Bajrang Bali Contract Company, Jammu Hev’s, My Physio, and Aroma Muticusine Family Restaurant as the refreshment partner.
As Day 5 concluded, the Swachh Bharat BIG Cricket League 2024 continued to inspire audiences, reinforcing the message of sustainability while delivering top-tier cricketing action.
