CEC Rajiv Kumar leads cycle rally to boost voter awareness in J&K
Youth pledge to be ambassadors of democracy in Valley
Srinagar, Aug 09: Hundreds of young men and women in Kashmir came together with unparalleled enthusiasm to promote the importance of voting and demonstrate their faith in democracy.
The students took part in a series of programs under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative, including a “Run for Democracy,” a Cycle Rally, and a Shikara Rally at SKICC. These events were inaugurated by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar, alongside Election Commissioners (ECs) Gyanesh Kumar and Dr. SS Sandhu.
As part of the voter awareness and enrollment drive, CEC Rajiv Kumar led the cycle rally along with the Election Commissioners. The EC is currently conducting the 2nd Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls in Jammu & Kashmir. The vibrant participation of the youth, both boys and girls, filled the SKICC and the Backwaters of Dal Lake with the spirit of democracy. With every pedal, the participants reaffirmed their commitment to the democratic process.
Chanting “We are proud voters,” the youngsters pledged to be ambassadors of democracy in the valley, underscoring their faith in the electoral process and their dedication to educating peers, classmates, and the general public about the significance of voting. The high-spirited youth vowed to register themselves on the voter lists in their respective areas and to encourage their peers to do the same. The CEC and ECs expressed their appreciation for the participants’ efforts to spread the message of democracy and the importance of exercising the right to vote.
