Katra, July 29: The School of Civil Engineering at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) recently organized a five-day survey camp from July 22-26, 2024. This initiative aimed to enhance the practical skills of third and fourth-year Civil Engineering students by providing hands-on experience in real-world surveying techniques.
The camp was coordinated by Dr. Bharat Bhushan Jindal, with Dr. Vaibhav Sapkal as the Faculty-in-Charge and Gautam Narula as the Co-coordinator. Students received practical training in fly leveling, traversing the Administrative Block, measuring the area of the SMVDU stadium, and contouring the green ground using advanced equipment such as the Auto Level and Total Station.
The event culminated in a session with Prof. Balbir Singh, Dean of Academic Affairs, and Dr. V.K. Dogra, Head of the School of Civil Engineering. Prof. Singh praised the students’ enthusiasm and the camp’s effectiveness in enhancing their practical skills, while Dr. Dogra commended the organizing team and students for the camp’s success.
Dr. Jindal also acknowledged the support of Lab Assistants Mr. Luv Sharma and Shivang Gupta, whose dedication was crucial to the camp’s success. The initiative reflects SMVDU’s commitment to providing holistic education and preparing students to address real-world challenges with confidence.
