Ganderbal, Nov 09: Students enrolled in Government Boys Higher Secondary School Hariganiwan area of Kangan in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district are grappling with dire conditions in the school building, raising concerns about their ability to study effectively. The dilapidated structure, constructed many years ago, has deteriorated to the point where doors, windows, and classrooms are in poor condition.
Expressing their plight, students highlighted the ongoing challenges, emphasizing the hindrance to proper learning. While some attend classes in a different building, students in 9th, 10th, and 11th grades continue to face the deteriorating conditions in the mentioned building.
Despite numerous pleas for renovation and repairs, the students reported no substantial steps have been taken. The situation worsened last month when a concrete wall was damaged by a truck collision, and the necessary repairs are yet to be undertaken.
A student lamented, “How can we focus on studying in such a dilapidated building? We face multiple problems during classes.” Urging authorities to address the issue promptly, students seek repairs to ensure a conducive learning environment.
In response, the Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Ganderbal acknowledged the issues in the building, assuring that the department has initiated the resolution process. The CEO emphasized that the school building will be repaired in the coming time to alleviate the students’ hardships and ensure a safe and conducive learning space.
