Rajouri, Oct 10: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) on Tuesday organised an interactive session on the theme ‘Why Mental Health Matters’ to celebrate World Mental Health Day.
The session was held in the Centre for Hospitality and Tourism. The primary objective of the session was to reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues and to improve the help-seeking behaviours of students in case of such issues
Prof Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor, BGSBU said that the mental health and well-being of students are critical for holistic development. He said that due to a variety of reasons, many students are experiencing mental health issues and need immediate help to navigate life challenges, resolve psychological concerns and develop a life-long orientation toward resilience and mental wellness through formal and informal means.
On the occasion, Dr Danish Iqbal Raina, Assistant Professor, held the session. He emphasised the value of eradicating the stigma attached to seeking assistance in case of mental health issues. Dr Raina talked about various signs of mental health issues and highlighted the ways and means to take care of mental health and wellbeing. More than 100 students and research scholars participated in the session.
