Bandipora, Jan 16: Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Kashmir, Sajid Yehaya Naqash on Monday urged the transporters to follow the rules and stressed on maintenance of vehicles.
He urged transporters to strictly adhere to the safety measures to save precious lives and follow traffic rules and road icons during the drive to ensure the hassle-free movement of vehicles on roads.
In connection with the Road Safety Week being observed from January 11 to 17 under ‘Swachhata Pakhwada-2023’, the RTO Kashmir on Monday visited Bandipora to participate in various road safety week activities.
Participating in a road safety car rally held to create awareness about traffic rules, the RTO Kashmir in presence of ARTO Bandipora, Bilal Ahmad Mir also flagged off the Road Safety Motor Cycle Rally which started from New Bus Stand Bandipora and passed via Gulshan Chowk and culminated back at Bus Stand Bandipora.
A free eye screening and first aid medical camp were also organised for drivers at New Bus stand Bandipora.
During the camp, hundreds of drivers were screened for eyesight and other ailments by concerned doctors. A live demo was also held for imparting first aid in case of accidents.
“In order to avoid congestion, the transport department is working in tandem with the police and other auxiliary agencies,” the RTO Kashmir said.
