Srinagar, Dec 02: In a security meeting held in Awantipora, South Kashmir, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V. K. Birdi, called upon officers to reinforce the ground intelligence grid, heighten alertness among deployed personnel, and intensify legal actions against Over Ground Workers (OGWs).
Emphasising the strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), IGP Birdi addressed additional threat perceptions and underscored the necessity of establishing a robust security grid in the Police district.
During the meeting, the IGP stressed the prompt resolution of pending cases, particularly those related to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS). He highlighted the importance of building synergy and cordial relations with all stakeholders, urging officers to take them into confidence.
“Strengthening the intelligence grid on the ground, alertness of deployed personnel, intensified legal action against OGWs, and strict adherence to all SOPs,” said IGP Birdi during the meeting.
IGP Birdi also expressed the need for modern technology in enhancing transparency within the Police department, urging officers to adopt result-oriented and people-friendly policing methods.
The meeting, attended by DIG SKR Anantnag Rayees Mohammad Bhat, SSP Awantipora Ajaz Ahmad Zargar, and other senior officers from the Police District, focused on strategic initiatives to bolster security measures, promote community engagement, address the drug menace, and undertake legal actions against OGWs.
SSP Awantipora provided an overview of proactive steps taken by the Police to counter challenges posed by inimical elements at the ground level. IGP Kashmir, paying tribute to the martyrs at DPL Awantipora for their supreme sacrifice, inaugurated the GOs mess at DPL Awantipora and conducted an inspection of the infrastructure and facilities within the premises.
