Strength in Unity: DLSA Srinagar, Social Welfare Dept pioneer anti-drug campaign & CBP for frontline workers

Srinagar, Dec 02: In a concerted effort to combat the rising challenge of substance abuse, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, inaugurated a comprehensive four days Training and Capacity Building Program (CBP) in the Conference Hall of DLSA, Srinagar. 
This significant initiative, held under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction, aimed to equip frontline warriors, particularly the Aanganwadi Workers and Para Legal Volunteers with the tools and knowledge necessary to tackle this pressing societal concern.
The event witnessed the presence of key dignitaries including Arif Shah, SP (HQ) Srinagar; Dr. Mukhtair Ahmed, District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Srinagar; Jahangir Ahmad Bakshi, Secretary of DLSA Srinagar; Dr. Insha Qayoom, Naireen Jan,  Ruqaya Bhat, Women Development Officer, Srinagar, alongside a dedicated gathering of Aanganwadi Workers, para-legal volunteers, and the staff members of DLSA, Srinagar.
Dr. Mukhtair Ahmed, DSWO Srinagar, initiated the event with a warm welcome address, setting the tone for a collaborative and empowering experience aimed at equipping the frontline warriors with enhanced knowledge and skills.
The event featured detailed presentations addressing various facets of substance abuse. SP (HQ) Srinagar, delivered an insightful discourse encompassing substance abuse patterns, predictive measures, protection strategies, and the crucial role of law enforcement agencies in combating this challenge.
In his remarks, Secretary DLSA, Srinagar emphasized the criticality of the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction in safeguarding our communities. He highlighted the program’s role in fortifying our societal fabric against the detrimental effects of substance abuse, underscoring the pivotal role of frontline workers in this collective endeavor.
Dr. Insha Qayoom presented a comprehensive insight into substance-related disorders, emphasizing early identification and prevention strategies. 
Meanwhile, Naireen Jan delved into the profound impact of substance abuse on families and advocated for the imperative need to raise awareness within these foundational units of society. 
Suhaila Ali, Panel Lawyer of DLSA, Srinagar highlighted legal Frame work for substance abuse.
