“Strategy clear to divide country…”: BJP slams Congress over Kharge’s remark on article 370

Launching a scathing attack on Congress, Rajya Sabha MP and BJP’s spokesperson, Sudhanshu Trivedi, said on Sunday that the strategy of the Congress is very clear: to divide the country on the basis of religion and language.

The remark by the BJP leader came after Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said why PM Modi’s talks about the abrogation of Article 370 in other states and he suggested that he should talk about Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a press conference held in New Delhi, Trivedi said, “Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said in Rajasthan what change it makes here when Article 370 was abrogated elsewhere in Jammu and Kashmir. From this, it’s evident how much injustice can be done with the unity and integrity of the nation.”

“The BJP takes this statement seriously. This shows that the Congress, which is on the verge of losing its status as a national party, has also lost its moral right to be a party,” he added.

The BJP leader slammed the Congress for questioning the integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country.

“If a party says what it means to have integration of Kashmir with other states, Congress can call itself the conglomeration of regional forces,” he said.

Turning to the ongoing war in Gaza, the BJP leader questioned the top brass of the party, including Sonia Gandhi for organising rallies in favour of Hamas when the government of India made its stand clear on the same.

“…Even after the govt of India made its stand clear on the issue of Palestine in the Israel-Hamas war, you (Congress) passed a resolution in favour of Hamas. Why? Priyanka Gandhi tweets on it, Sonai Gandhi writes an article and rallies are organised in Kerala in favour of Hamas,” he said.

“The strategy is very clear, divide India based on region, language, caste and state and establish contact with a few powers beyond the country, including Hamas,” he alleged. “In Kerala, the Muslim League is the main ally of the Congress and has compromised to the extent that during the nomination of Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad, Congress flags weren’t seen.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday slammed Congress over its National President Mallikarjun Kharge’s remark in a rally and said that it is mostly the “Italian culture” of the Congress party that is to blame for not understanding the very idea of India.

In a post on X, Amit Shah said that it is shameful to hear that the Congress party is asking, “Kashmir se kya waasta hai?”

“I would like to remind the Congress party that J&K is an integral part of India, and every state and citizen has the right over J&K, just as the people of J&K have the right over the rest of India. The Congress doesn’t know that many brave sons of Rajasthan have sacrificed their lives for peace and security in Kashmir. But it is not merely the fault of the Congress leaders. It is mostly the Italian culture of the Congress party that is to blame for not understanding the very idea of India. Such statements hurt every patriotic citizen who cares for the unity and integrity of the nation. People will certainly answer Congress,” he said on X.

Amit Shah shared a video on his X account in which Mallikarjun Kharge said, “They (BJP) are coming here and saying that they removed 370. What does it have to do with the people here? It’s okay, if you go and speak about that in Jammu and Kashmir.”

The Lok Sabha polls in the Union Territory will be held in the first five phases on April 19 (Udhampur), April 26 (Jammu), May 7 (Anantnag-Rajouri), May 13 (Srinagar) and May 20 (Baramulla).

The counting of votes will be taken up on June 4. (ANI)
