Srinagar: The Executive Engineer of the Water Works Division in Srinagar has urged the residents of the Srinagar district to store an adequate water in anticipation of a 30-hour shutdown scheduled for February 22 and 23.

Anbreen Anjum, the Executive Engineer for the Water Works Division said that the Department of Civil Investigation and Design Wing, JKPDC, Kashmir will implement this shutdown to conduct essential repair work on the Sindh Power Canal HEP in Old Ganderbal and to perform desilting of the Forebay.
She said that the raw water supply to the Water Treatment Plants at Nishat, Alusteng, and Rangil will be significantly impacted, resulting in a disruption of potable water supply across major areas of Srinagar City and its surroundings. Additionally, hospitals operating in and around Srinagar City are advised to maintain close communication with the PHE authorities throughout the shutdown period. For any complaints or issues related to water scarcity or shortages, the public is encouraged to reach out to the PHE Provincial Control Room, which is available 24/7 to assist residents. The contact numbers for the Provincial Control Room are as follows: 1. 0194-2477207, 0194-2452047 (Landline Numbers) 2. 9419413914, 9419413915 (WhatsApp Numbers).
