Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a roundtable discussion with Indian AI start-ups at his home at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg.Twelve Indian AI start-ups that met the requirements for the Foundation Model Pillar at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, which will take place in India next month, attended the roundtable and shared their concepts and work. Indian language foundation models, multilingual LLMs, speech-to-text, text-to-audio, and text-to-video, 3D content using generative AI for e-commerce, marketing, and personalized content creation, engineering simulations, material research, and advanced analytics for data-driven decision-making across industries, healthcare diagnostics, and medical research are just a few of the varied fields in which these startups are operating. The AI Start-Ups praised India's steadfast dedication to developing the nation's AI ecosystem. They noted that the center of gravity of AI innovation and deployment is starting to move towards India, highlighting the industry's explosive growth and enormous future potential. According to the leaders, India is now firmly positioned on the global AI map by providing a strong and supportive environment for AI development. The prime minister emphasized the significance of artificial intelligence in transforming society during the meeting. He mentioned that India will play a significant role in the technology sector by hosting the India AI Impact Summit next month. He emphasized that India is working to use AI to transform the country. The prime minister emphasized that startups and AI entrepreneurs are co-architects of India's future and that the nation has enormous potential for both large-scale implementation and innovation. He went on to say that India ought to offer the world a distinctive AI model that embodies the idea of "Made in India, Made for the World."The world's confidence in India, according to the prime minister, is the nation's greatest asset. He emphasized the importance of making sure Indian AI models are impartial, ethical, open, and founded on data privacy principles. He stated that startups should strive for global leadership from India and pointed out that India can support inclusive AI, affordable AI, and frugal innovation worldwide. Additionally, he recommended that Indian AI models be unique and support regional languages and local, indigenous content. The meeting was attended by CEOs, Heads and representatives of Indian AI start-ups including Avataar, BharatGen, Fractal, Gan, Genloop, Gnani, Intellihealth, Sarvam, Shodh AI, Soket AI, Tech Mahindra and Zenteiq. Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State, Jitin Prasada were also present during the meeting.
