Doda, Feb 6: The Lal Draman Winter Festival, scheduled for February 8, is set to showcase the vibrant culture and spirit of Doda, as preparations continue under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh.
On Thursday, the DC chaired a detailed meeting with officials from various departments to review the arrangements for this highly anticipated event, which is being organised by the District administration Doda in collaboration with the tourism department and Tejas Ek Pehal NGO.
The festival will kick off with the national anthem and a diverse lineup of cultural performances, including folk music and traditional dances, designed to highlight the rich cultural heritage of the region. In addition to these performances, there will be speeches from community leaders and an exhibition of government department stalls showcasing their work.
To make the event even more engaging, DC Singh instructed the organisation of a flag rally featuring the Tricolour, further emphasising national pride. The festival will also include a plantation drive aimed at raising environmental awareness within the community. Visitors can look forward to exciting sports activities, such as a tug-of-war competition, and on-the-spot health camps offering free medical consultations and services for the public. Attendees of the meeting included district officers, members of Tejas Ek Pehal, and local artists. A series of action points were agreed upon to ensure smooth coordination. The 10 RR and Cultural Club Doda will be responsible for setting up the sound system, while the XEN PWD was directed to ensure clear access routes and smooth road connectivity. The Agriculture Department, ICDS, Army, and NRLM officials will set up stalls to engage visitors, while the ACD Doda was tasked with providing refreshments for the children and artists taking part in the festival. With a focus on community participation and cultural exchange, the Lal Draman Winter Festival promises to be a memorable event for Doda, fostering unity, awareness, and celebration of local traditions.
