Sopore, Jan 03: In a riveting showcase of skill and determination, SRM Welkin emerged triumphant in the boys’ U-15 category of the inaugural Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) chapter during the 2023-24 campaign. The final clash against Sanctorium Institute culminated in a nail-biting 3-2 victory for SRM Welkin at the TRC Ground in Srinagar on December 27, marking a momentous win for the team.
The tournament, which witnessed participation from over 20 teams across the Union Territory, served as a platform for budding football talents to exhibit their prowess on the field. The euphoria of the win was palpable as SRM Welkin’s coach, Sajad Bashir, expressed immense delight at both the event’s arrival in the Kashmir valley and his team’s remarkable achievement.
“We are thrilled with the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) coming to the Kashmir valley and equally joyous at winning the boys’ U-15 age group in its first-ever edition here. It has been an enriching experience and the competition provided our boys with a lot of exposure and experiences that they will carry forward in their football careers,” Coach Sajad Bashir commented in the wake of their victory.
