Srinagar, Nov03: Acting tough against the minibus operators for overloading, and causing inconvenience to female and elderly passengers, Srinagar traffic officials on Thursday said that the drive against the bus operators will be intensified.
Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) for Srinagar traffic, Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, told Rising Kashmir that they recently held a special drive against the Minibus Operators for overloading and causing inconvenience to female and elderly passengers, and said the drive will be intensified in the coming days.
“Those mini bus operators indulging in overloading will be dealt with as per the law, however, excessive overloading is causing inconvenience to female and elderly passengers and for which the regular checkups will be intensified”, he said.
Earlier on Wednesday Srinagar traffic police in a tweet said, “Traffic City Srinagar Today Conducted Special Drive Against Minibus Operators for overloading, Causing inconvenience to female and elderly passengers.”
Pertinent to mention that commuters from various parts of Srinagar city have been complaining of excessive overloads by minibus operators, saying that they don’t adhere to the seating capacity guidelines set by the Regional Transport Officer Kashmir.
SSP Traffic City further said that they are also acting against those using HID Conversion Kits for headlights and LED strip lights and will be also intensifying the drive against them as well.
“Many vehicles specially privately owned cars are using the LED Strip lights and high beat lights with the installation of HID Conversion Kits for headlights during night hours which is causing the problem for the vehicle coming from the opposite side. Those found are being dealt in accordance with the law”, he said.
