Srinagar, March 09: In preparation for the upcoming G-20 summit in India, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) and Lakes Conservation and Management Authority (LC&MA) have partnered to beautify several key locations in the city.
LC&MA will focus on enhancing Chountkul, Foreshore Road, and other water bodies, while SMC will beautify other parts of the city as part of the Smart City Project. This includes repairing and painting jetties, installing sewage treatment plants in houseboats along Foreshore Road, and developing slopes in Nigeen.
To further improve the city’s appearance, Srinagar Smart City has issued tenders for wall painting using acrylic paint from reputable manufacturers. The deadline for the last tender is March 10, and work is expected to begin soon after.
According to officials, these beautification efforts will make Srinagar a more attractive tourist destination. In addition to the G-20 summit, Srinagar is also hosting Youth-20 and Civil-20 events, with the University of Kashmir being one of 15 institutions chosen to host these events.
This marks the first time in 70 years that Jammu and Kashmir will host an international event like the G-20 summit.
