Srinagar, Mar 06: After two people were arrested in Srinagar for allegedly stalking and harassing a girl in the DalGate area, the Srinagar police have decided to take measures to prevent such incidents from occurring again. To this end, they have roped in traffic and other departments to conduct special drives across the city.
A senior police officer told Rising Kashmir that special teams from the Srinagar police, along with traffic and other concerned departments, would be conducting special drives across the city to prevent such incidents.
He said the women’s police squad is also on the ground, and they are also working tirelessly to prevent such incidents. The officer stated the roping in of concerned departments comes after unfortunate incidents come to light.”
According to the officer, women’s police teams keep a strict eye on the vital locations, which include coaching centers. Barring the Dal Gate incident, very few complaints are being reported in the city. Also, RTO Kashmir has suspended the registration of two-wheelers used in the commission of crimes.
SDPO Nehru Park Mansha Beigh, while commenting on the incident, told Rising Kashmir, “Yesterday’s incident is unfortunate and shouldn’t have happened.” Those girls who are facing such a situation must raise their voices, and action will be taken against the accused.”
She said they have also issued helpline numbers where girls can call to register their complaints, and we ensure that strict action will be taken in a short span of time. Srinagar police will do their best to prevent such incidents.
Social media brought yesterday’s instance to light, and the right action was then taken. She continued by saying that complaints of this nature have started to rise, especially in light of the occurrence from yesterday. She stated, “We are on it; we will take steps to avoid such activities, working with Traffic and other departments.
The police officer further said that parents have primary responsibility to put an end to such acts, as their teachings to their children would help to reduce such incidents to a large extent, adding that reporting such cases will also help in bringing down.
