Srinagar, Nov 12: In a major drug bust, Srinagar Police seized narcotic substances worth crores and arrested two individuals during a routine nakaa checking at the Tengpora flood channel in Batamaloo.
The accused were identified as Love Kumar, a resident of Shahdara Kastura Nagar, Delhi, and Vipin Kumar from Sultanpuri, Delhi.
Police recovered 2.4 kg of a heroin-like substance from the duo’s possession. An FIR (No. 140/2024) was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Batmaloo, and an investigation was initiated.
Further inquiries led to a breakthrough when the accused provided vital information about additional narcotics in their vehicle. Police recovered 2.86 kg of Crystal Meth (Amphetamine) from an Ertiga vehicle (registration no. HR11N 7336) linked to the suspects.
Srinagar Police are now working to trace the origin and broader network behind the drug trafficking operation. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the illegal narcotics trade. The police have called on the public to remain vigilant and support ongoing efforts to tackle the growing drug abuse issue in the valley.
