Srinagar, Aug 20: Bilal Ahmad, an innovator hailing from the Sanat Nagar area of Srinagar district has been granted a patent for his futuristic solar car, which he designed in 2022.
Ahmad’s solar car is a significant step towards sustainable and eco-friendly transportation. With its affordable price and unique features, it has the potential to revolutionize the automobile industry.
While talking to the Rising Kashmir, Ahmad who is a math teacher said that he began working on the solar car in 2009 and launched India’s first innovative solar car in 2022. He applied for the patent on March 27, 2022, and received it on July 26, 2023, from the Patent Office of the Government of India in New Delhi.
Ahmad also submitted an application to the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) on December 29, 2022, for the international patent system, in which he received novelty in many features of his solar car.
He said that this is the first innovative solar car to have a gullwing door that opens upwards like the ones in a Ferrari.
“The car is not a prototype; it is a fully luxurious car. The other luxurious cars available in the market have huge costs in crores. I want affordable inventions to reach the common people. I want people to make use of advanced technology at affordable prices,” Ahmad said
He said that I have driven this car on the roads and have received good responses and feedback from the people.
“The India-based investors have shown a lot of interest in contributing to its future development. I am going to do more modifications to my solar car, which I will complete until September 2023,” Bilal said
He said that he wants international investors to invest in this project, so this solar car will get launched internationally. “This is my 11 years of hard work, and I have already spent a huge amount of money on the project.
He added that he did not receive any kind of support or financial assistance from the government or any non-government organisation
