Srinagar, Mar 06: Ahead of Prime Minister NarendraModi’s visit to Kashmir on Thursday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police declared Srinagar as a “Temporary Red Zone” for the operation of drones and quadcopters in the city.
According to a police spokesman, this decision was made in view of PM Modi’s visit and is in line with Rule 24(2) of Drone Rules, 2021, with immediate effect. Unauthorized drone operations in the Red Zone will face penalties as per the relevant provisions of the Drone Rules, 2021.
Security measures are being intensified for PM Modi’s mega rally on March 07. A senior police officer confirmed that security forces are on high alert, with sufficient arrangements in place. Special teams, including Commandos and Marcos, have been deployed near Bakshi Stadium and along the Jhelum River to ensure vigilance.
PM Modi is expected to be received by LG Manoj Sinha, CS AtalDuloo, DGP J&K, and other dignitaries at Srinagar airport, where he will proceed to BB Cantonment to pay homage at the War Memorial. The mega rally is scheduled to commence around noon at the stadium, with elaborate arrangements finalised well in advance.
“Around 12, PM Modi will leave for the stadium to address the mega rally, where arrangements have been already finalised from the past week,” he said.
To monitor the overall situation, high-end camera-fitted vehicles, CCTV cameras, and drones will be deployed, while Special Operations Groups (SOGs) in plain clothes will be stationed at strategic points across the city to monitor suspicious activities.
The officer said QRT teams of Police, CRPF, and sister agencies will be deputed outside the stadium. High-end camera-fitted vehicles and CCTV, drones would be used to monitor the overall situation.
“SOGs in civvies have been deployed around the vital points in the city to keep an eye on suspicious persons, the police officer said.
Individuals intending to attend the rally are advised to carry their Aadhar or Election cards for verification purposes before entering the stadium. While designated routes by the traffic department will be provided, there will be no restrictions on public movement in Srinagar, allowing people to move freely and park their vehicles at designated spots.
