New Delhi, Apr 17: Senior Supreme Court Advocate Ashok Bhan on Monday received National Law Day Award for his outstanding contribution in the field of Law and public services.
Former Chief Justice of India & Chairman NHRC Justice Dr.KG Balakrishnan presented the award to Bhan at an impressive felicitation function held in
New Delhi.
It is pertinent to mention that Ashok Bhan is a practising senior Advocate at Supreme Court of India and has handled high-profile cases across the country.
He worked in Jammu and Kashmir High Court and was one of the prominent advocates till 1988.
Following the turmoil in the Valley, Advocate Bhan migrated and shifted to New Delhi and started practicing in the Supreme Court of India.
Bhan is a proud Kashmiri and a patriot who has represented the Country at UNGA and UNHCR.
Bhan is a door tenant at a prestigious law chamber in London. After migrating from the Valley and practicing in New Delhi, he has undertaken a great struggle. His focus and professional competence came to be recognised as early in the nineties when he successfully conducted the BOFORS case as Special counsel for CBI in various courts in Delhi and Supreme Court.
From 1989 to till date, Bhan has been continuously handling matters of great importance, high-profile cases, and other matters.
Bhan who worked as a special senior advocate for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and argued against YS Jaganmohan Reddy in the disproportionate assets case is now arguing on behalf of Amaravati farmers.
He is a public speaker, a crusader against terrorism, a human rights activist and expert in conflict resolution jurisprudence. He is a track-2 diplomat and a peace activist.
Bhan is also chairman of Kashmir (Policy & Strategy) Group and has also represented corporate houses and many civil matters and many arbitrations.
He is also working with a London-based law firm and keeps them consulting on various matters.
