Spread of Hepatitis: DLSA Chairman asks DHSK to ensure timely intervention in Kulgam

Kulgam, Dec, 12: Taking suo-moto cognizance of the news about the spread of Hepatitis-A in Kulgam especially in village Turkatachloo of Block Qaimoo, the Chairman District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kulgam, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat who is also Principal & District sessions Judge (PD&SJ) Monday asked the Director Health Services, Kashmir to take serious note of this deadly disease and ensure timely intervention into it.
The PD&SJ also asked the Director Health to take necessary precautionary measures with the concerned agencies to prevent the spread of this disease in District Kulgam.
It is important to mention here that so far two of the minor children have succumbed due to this disease and many infected children are under observation.
The Chairman DLSA also passed directions to Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kulgam to constitute the expert team of doctors and technical staff governing the field and depute them forthwith to the affected area 24X7 and take all necessary steps in collaboration with District Administration to contain this disease at the very threshold.
He also directed the CMO to submit the detailed report with regard to steps taken for prevention of this disease in District Kulgam within a week’s time.
Moreover, Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti (PHE) department Kulgam was directed to gear up his men and machinery for providing safe drinking water to the whole public of Kulgam especially to the affected areas forthwith with further direction that water purity tests of all the tube-wells and reservoirs used by the public of District Kulgam be conducted throughout the district to contain further spread of this disease. Tests conducted and reports prepared thereof be placed before this authority.
The Deputy Commissioner and Sr. Superintendent of Police Kulgam were also requested to monitor the preventive measures taken on ground by the concerned departments to contain this disease at the very threshold.
Moreover, Secretary DLSA Kulgam was directed to depute the Para Legal Volunteers to the affected areas forthwith who shall submit the detailed report on daily basis before the Secretary DLSA with regard to number of persons infected, treatment if any provided to those persons/children and the precautionary measures taken on ground by the District Administration and Director Health Services Kashmir.
