Qazigund Aug 25: National Sports Day is celebrated on the 29th of August every year and to generate information about the importance and relevance of the day, the Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K is celebrating National Sports Week. The week is being celebrated across the Kashmir division to remember the great contributions of Hockey Legend Major Dhyan Chand by organizing sports activities in different group events.
All the sports zones of Kashmir-based districts are presenting a festive look these days as students and youth in large numbers are seen taking part in different games and recreational activities.
Continuing its activities in connection with Sports Week, the District Youth Services & Sports Office Anantnag organized a mega sports event at an Altitude of 11000 ft. above sea level at B-Top (Cart Road) in collaboration with Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF)24th Bn. On this occasion, the Joint Director Kashmir of Youth Services & Sports Department J&K, Waseem Raja presided over the function organized in floating clouds. Assistant Commandant of CRPF 24Bn L. Seroto graced the occasion as Guest of Honor.
A Kabaddi match was played between Students of HSS Wanpoh and students from the Sports Zone of Doru. Later-on
Kabaddi and Tug-of-war competitions were organised between the Staff of 24Bn CRPF and YSS Staff. While interacting with the dignitaries, Jawans appreciated such initiatives of the Department of YS&S and showed a lot of desire that many such sports events may be organized for them. Waseem Raja applauded the commitment of CRPF for doing their professional job dedicatedly at such an altitude and expressed his gratitude to the Battalion for collaborating with the Department in organizing sports activities in B.Top’s unique landscape. Speaking on this Occasion Assistant Commandant of 24Bn CRPF congratulated the Department of Youth Services & Sports for initiating this step of conducting sports events and wished that such events would be organized in the future as well.
Pertinently organizing sports activities at such an elevation on Synthetic Mats happened for the maiden time and it has boosted the morale of the field staff and encouraged them to conduct sports activities in non-traditional ways so as to make every person live the dream of sports for all.
