Jammu, Aug 05: Mahadev Cricket Club triumphed over Raja Mandlik Club with a commanding 115-run victory in the finals of the month-long cricket tournament held at Barn in the Nagrota Assembly Constituency. The tournament, organized by the Raja Mandik Cricket Club Barn, saw 32 teams competing for the top honuor, with Rajeshwar Singh being named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
At the concluding ceremony, senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana addressed the gathering, praising the tournament’s success and the spirited participation of all teams. He said Jammu and Kashmir has abundant sports talent, particularly in Nagrota. “There is a need for identification, coaching and opportunities for young athletes to showcase their skills on a larger platform,” he said.
“Such extensive tournaments are instrumental in discovering and nurturing talent, preparing players for more significant events,” Rana said. He lauded the enthusiasm of the budding cricketers and noted that the month-long competition had captivated sports enthusiasts and inspired youth to engage more deeply in sports, both for personal growth and career advancement.
The BJP leader said sports should be embraced as a means to build confidence and face competitive challenges with assurance. He congratulated the runner-up team and encouraged a spirit of camaraderie, reminding players that each competition is a step in a longer journey, with future opportunities for success.
Devender also commended the local cricket community for their dedication, despite limited facilities, and praised the tournament organizers for their role in providing a platform for young cricketers to shine. He expressed satisfaction with the growing momentum of sports in Nagrota and the evident passion among the local youth.
Rana reiterated the importance of sports in personal and professional development, encouraging all participants to continue pursuing excellence with determination and enthusiasm.
