Sports Carnival ‘Waliv Gindav’: Anirudh, Abhi, Mehak, Komal bag sprint Gold; Rising Women CC enter final

Jagti, Dec 21: Anirudh Dhar, Abhi Sharma, Komal Shah and Mehak clinched Gold medals in various categories of 100 meters sprint, while Riding Women’s Cricket Club sealed a berth in cricket finals of the ongoing Sports Carnival ‘Waliv Gindav’, being organized by the Relief Organisation (M) Jammu in collaboration with Rising Athletes J&K at Sports Stadium, here.
On Wednesday, day 3 of the sports extravaganza, Cricket, Athletics, Kabaddi, Badminton and Kho-Kho events were held.
In athletics, Junior boys, Anirudh Dhar clinched Gold, Saroj Singh and Rafan claimed Silver and Bronze medals respectively, while in athletics senior boys, Abhi Sharma bagged Gold, Divan Bhan won Silver and Sonu Tickoo claimed Bronze.
In athletics junior girls, Mehak claimed Gold, Mansi won Silver and Vaishali clinched Bronze, while in athletics senior girls, Komal Shah, Khushi Pandita and Shivani Pandita claimed Gold, Silver and Bronze medals respectively.
In women’s cricket, three matches were played on Wednesday.
In the first match, Jagti Warriors beat Jagti Titans by 6 wickets, while in the second match, Rising Women got the better of Jagti Warriors by 8 wickets.
In Wednesday’s third match, Rising Women defeated Jagti Titans by 10 wickets, thus sealing a berth in the finals.
In Kho-Kho, Team Arushi trounced Team Vardhan by one inning and 7 points.
In Kabaddi, the Warriors beat Seven Star by a big margin of 30 points (36-06), the Legends prevailed over the Panthers by 5 points (24-19) and the Titans defeated by 10 points (35-25).
The matches are officiated by a panel of experts drawn from the Department of Youth Services and Sports and are supervised by Sahil Pandita and Akshay Garoo from Rising Athletes J&K.
Ram Krishan Bhat, Ajay Raina and Vinod Bhat are the conveners of Kabaddi, Cricket and Football/Athletics respectively.
