Speed up languishing projects, says Advisor Ladakh

Leh, Sept 27: The Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor UT Ladakh, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, chaired a meeting to review the progress of languishing projects under SDP 2024-25 at Civil Secretariat Leh.
Deputy Director, Planning Kachu Mohd Hussain, provided a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation, covering the physical status of the languishing works under SDP 2024-25.
During the meeting, it was informed that 182 works were approved for funding under SDP, and out of 182 works, 158 have been completed. He further informed that about 24 works, (05 to Leh and 19 to Kargil), are approved under SDP languishing for the fiscal year 2024-25.
These major works include, construction of Ice hockey rink Leh; construction of 160 mtr span jeepable suspension bridge over river Shayok; construction of Sub district hospital Drass; construction of sport stadium at Shargole, etc.
Discussions and deliberations were held on the status of languishing projects of several departments. During the meeting, the Advisor instructed the concerned officials to visit the construction sites to oversee the work progress of these projects and ensure transparency.

He further said that SDP and languishing funding should be separated. The Advisor also instructed the officials to review the progress of execution of the works at regular intervals. It’s pertinent to mention here that languishing works are the incompleted works of the (J&K), which were approved/ shifted under SDP in 2020-21 of the UT Ladakh for the completion of the balance works.

The meeting was attended by the Commissioner Secretary, PDM UT Ladakh; Administrative Secretary PWD, R&B PHE, UT Ladakh; Administrative Secretary, Power Development Department, UT Ladakh; District Magistrate Leh; Deputy Director Planning Leh; and other concerned officials. District Magistrate Kargil, R&B Div, Sankoo, PWD R&B Kargil, joined the meeting virtually.
