Jammu, Mar 22: Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, announced the formation of a House Committee to probe alleged irregularities in the execution of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
Rather made the announcement while concluding the day’s proceedings in the Assembly.
“I announce the formation of a House Committee to address the concerns raised by members from both sides during the debate, as well as on previous occasions during this session,” Rather stated.
Earlier, a majority of members from the National Conference (NC) and Congress called for a House Committee to investigate the alleged “misappropriation of funds” in the implementation of the JJM. Although the proceedings were drawing to a close, Leader of the Opposition, Sunil Sharma, requested a debate in the House before the committee’s formation.
“Since the issue has been debated throughout the day, the decision has been made to form the committee,” Rather replied.
